Radon Gas A service of EEI Inc.com |

Radon gas is a decay product of uranium found in ores and minerals located in the ground. As the uranium decays, a series of elements are formed, including radium which then decays to radon gas. Radon gas can then enter a building or home through cracks in a foundation, along plumbing and electrical conduits and even through the drinking water. Exposure to elevated levels of radon has been correlated to a greater increase in the incidence of lung cancer and possibly stomach cancer. In fact, some research organizations believe that radon gas is the second leading cause of lung cancer after smoking. |
